The detailed program

Discover the Guinguette via ferrata between Tenay and Hostiaz, near Lyon, for a half-day with family or friends. The Guinguette via ferrata offers breathtaking views of the Bugey mountains, the Albarine Valley, and the Cluse des Hôpitaux. This discovery trail is suitable for everyone, provided you're not afraid of heights.

1. PUBLIC and GROUPS

Practitioners who have never tried via ferrata before or have some experience. In groups (adults, families with or without children). Children over 1.40 meters tall are welcome. For comfort and safety reasons, groups are limited to 8 people per guide.

Warning: Via ferrata is not recommended for people prone to severe vertigo.

2. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The proposed via ferrata route is accessible in one hour from Lyon, Bourg-en-Bresse, and Chambéry via the village of Hostiaz in the Ain department.

A 2-hour DISCOVERY option for a stress-free, easy start: adults* and children over 1.40 m tall.
We take the Buis route or the Grotte route, with an exit via a parrot ladder. This option allows you to test yourself and familiarize yourself with the equipment in the undergrowth and ends with a steeper, more aerial section. The program includes cliffside climbing using ladders, aerial passages on cables, a Nepalese bridge, wooden footbridges, and a parrot ladder.

Trail duration: 1.5 hours

Optional: At the end of the trail, you can discover the end of the Grand Parcours by abseiling 30 meters into a void and crossing the Saut de Mouton footbridge (duration: 45 minutes).

*: The theoretical weight limit for this activity is 120 kg. For those over 120 kg, please indicate this when booking.

3. High-quality PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

As a guarantee of safety, the group is supervised by a professional instructor with a DEJEPS (Department of Climbing in Natural Environments) qualification or equivalent. The instructor is fully familiar with the via ferrata routes. The instructor is equipped with a rope to assist you on steep sections. Technical via ferrata equipment is provided by the instructor.

Les Guides du Bugey is a team of independent climbing instructors and canyoning guides based in Bugey, in the southern Jura Mountains. Bugey is a mountainous region located in the Ain department, near Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon, Chambéry, and Geneva.

Les Guides du Bugey will safely introduce you to the world of cliffs, canyons, and mountains in the most beautiful natural sites of Ain, Jura, and Savoie.

Individual (price per person):

DISCOVERY PACKAGE (2 hours): €45
Option: Rappel + Sault Footbridge: +€15

Time slots available for groups of 4 or more, otherwise you will complete a group. Maximum of 8 people per instructor.

Private Option:
* €360 for a group of 8 people
* €400 for a group of 10 people**
* €720 for a group of up to 16 people (2 instructors)

**Groups are limited to 8 participants per instructor, but depending on the participants' level, the group may be larger than 10 people.

100% local: thanks to our local presence in Bugey, close to our practice sites, we reduce our travel to a minimum. We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.
