Overnight stay on a portaledge: this is a bivouac on a rock face, an activity for spending an unusual night in the Albarine Gorges in Bugey, south of the Jura Mountains.
After an evening in the air, on the side of a rock face 300 meters above the valley floor, you will witness a beautiful sunset over the Bugey mountains and the Albarine Gorges, a river beloved by trout fishermen.
This activity does not require climbing experience but does require a fear of heights.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
Meet at 6 p.m. at Tenay-Hauteville train station (01) - a 45-minute train ride from Lyon and 1 hour from Geneva.
We reach the bivouac site via a 400-meter forest hike. Once you reach the summit, you'll have a beautiful view of the Albarine Gorge.
A short rappel takes you to the portaledge, your cozy bed perched above a 100-meter-high cliff.
On the cliff face, you can enjoy a light meal before watching the sunset and falling asleep under the stars.
Wake up gently to the first rays of sunlight on the Bugey Mountains and the Roche de Narse opposite, and enjoy breakfast with the first rays of sunshine on the plateau just above.

BONUS:
Before reaching your bivouac site, you can hike a beautiful via ferrata route or go rock climbing at the bivouac site. Information upon registration.

Originally from the Vosges Mountains, I've been climbing rocks since I was 12 years old. I love the natural environment of cliffs and large rock faces in the mountains above all else.
During the summer, I work as a climbing instructor and canyoning guide on the Hauteville Plateau in the Jura Mountains. During the winter and part of the summer, I'm a High Mountain Guide in the Mont Blanc region.
When I'm not taking clients to the mountains, cliffs, or canyoning, I enjoy discovering wild and sometimes unexplored places through climbing.

One of our goals is to make the right decisions to protect natural sites and limit our impact on ecosystems and the environment.
100% local: thanks to our local presence in Bugey, close to our practice sites, we reduce our travel to a minimum. We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.
Protecting the planet: it's natural!
Photography and imagery are part of our DNA. Take advantage of our video and photo equipment to take your adventure memories home with you!
After each outing, we'll send you photos and videos of the outing, free of charge and with a smile!
