The detailed program

Discover trad climbing in the Jura Mountains and Bugey near Lyon. Traditional climbing involves progressing by placing your own equipment on the rock without using fixed equipment.

This introduction to trad climbing will allow you to familiarize yourself with the equipment (the nuts) and learn how to safely place your own protection. It's a good preparation course before embarking on a multi-pitch route in adventure terrain or the mountains, where it's important to have confidence in your protection to climb safely.

> LOCATION
This trad climbing training day takes place at a climbing school in Bugey, one hour from Lyon: in the Ambérieu-en-Bugey, Nantua, or Plateau d'Hauteville areas.

> PROGRAM:
The course takes place over a half-day (3 hours).
* The course begins with a presentation of the equipment needed for adventure climbing: cams.
* We will learn how to place cams in cracks of different sizes and shapes by performing suspensions on the equipment. We will even test the dynamic strength of the protections by taking a "flight" on the cams.
* We will descend routes using top rope or rappel.

You can further develop these basic concepts during a multi-day course: discover the trad courses on the Équilibre Vertical website: https://www.equilibrevertical.fr/activites/escalade-trad/.

> PREREQUISITES:
Regular rock climbing with a 5c onsight level is required to participate in the course.

Practical information

Eric Equilibre Vertical

Eric Equilibre Vertical (06 13 68 26 05)

Originally from the Vosges Mountains, I've been climbing rocks since I was 12 years old. I love the natural environment of cliffs and large rock faces in the mountains above all else.

During the summer, I work as a climbing instructor and canyoning guide on the Hauteville Plateau in the Jura Mountains. During the winter and part of the summer, I'm a High Mountain Guide in the Mont Blanc region.

When I'm not taking clients to the mountains, cliffs, or canyoning, I enjoy discovering wild and sometimes unexplored places through climbing.

Group rate: €300

A group is limited to a maximum of six people to ensure the quality of the training.

Every day from April to September.

By reservation, we will schedule the outing together based on your availability.

Environment, public transport and carpooling

One of our goals is to make the right decisions to protect natural sites and limit our impact on ecosystems and the environment.

100% local: thanks to our local presence in Bugey, close to our practice sites, we reduce our travel to a minimum. We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.

Protecting the planet: it's natural!

Photos and Videos

Photography and imagery are part of our DNA. Take advantage of our video and photo equipment to take your adventure memories home with you!

After each outing, we'll send you photos and videos of the outing, free of charge and with a smile!
