The detailed program

CANYONING in CHALEY, one hour from Lyon and Geneva. A package to discover canyoning in Bugey. A half-day outdoor activity ideal for families, groups, and friends. Let's just say it right away: Chaley is our favorite canyon.

For families with young children between 7 and 11 years old, we offer a family package where we adapt the canyoning experience for younger children.

1. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The Chaley canyoning course is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over to discover the activity:
* a short uphill approach walk (15 to 20 minutes)
* one or more rappels into waterfalls
* jumps into pools up to 7 meters deep
* natural slides
* siphons and caves
* swimming sections

These obstacles are easily avoided if you feel uneasy.

The canyon's water comes from mountain springs; it is fresh and pure all year round, even in summer. Although the flow rate slows down in summer, the canyon is relatively dry and can be enjoyed all summer long.

Total activity duration: 3 hours

2. COURSE AND LOCATION OF THE ACTIVITY

Find the full description of the Gorge Canyon in Chaley: https://www.escalade-montagne.fr/canyoning/ain-bugey/chaley/

We meet at the canyoning parking lot opposite the Chaley campsite. If you don't have a car, we can carpool at the Tenay/Hauteville train station, 5 minutes from the canyon. The Chaley campsite is open from March 1st to September 30th.

3. High-quality PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

As a guarantee of safety, the group is supervised by a professional guide with a DEJEPS Canyoning diploma or equivalent. The guide is a local who knows the canyons inside and out.

4. EQUIPMENT, HYGIENE, AND ENVIRONMENT

The instructor provides all the equipment necessary for the activity. The equipment is checked during each outing and complies with current PPE standards. Neoprene wetsuits are provided. They are of very good quality (two pieces, 5 mm thick) and offer optimal protection against the cold. They are washed with a biodegradable antibacterial product based on essential oils after each outing. Neoprene booties are provided to insert into the shoes.

Use athletic shoes that provide good ankle support, with soles in good condition, and are clean, free of solvents or paint to avoid polluting the waterways.

Avoid using cosmetics or sunscreen on the day of the activity to avoid polluting the river.

We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.
