GROIN CANYON IN ARTEMARE. Explore one of the most beautiful canyons in the Jura with a guide for a half-day: the Groin Canyon in Ain at the foot of the Grand Colombier. An extraordinary setting, impressive jumps, wet rappels, cave passages, and siphons, is reserved for adults or teenagers over 16 years old in good physical condition.
1. LOCATION OF THE ACTIVITY
The Groin Canyon is located in Artemare in the Ain department. Artemare is a pretty village in Valromey, a region between the Bugey highlands and the Grand Colombier, the highest peak in the Ain department at 1,531 meters.
The Groin Canyon is fed by two rivers: the Arvière and the Groin, which rises just 1 kilometer upstream from the canyon. The Groin spring is a Vaucluse spring that makes the canyon unique. It's also a geological curiosity worth seeing during a trip to Artemare. The canyon can be explored when this famous spring isn't flowing, as otherwise, the canyon is often impassable.

Warning: Depending on water conditions and for obvious safety reasons in the canyons, the route chosen at the time of booking may be changed. In the event of poor weather or flooding, another Bugey canyon will be offered.
2. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Program:
* Meet at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the activity site with the instructor in Artemare, Ain.
* The instructor brings the technical equipment, and we get equipped at the start of the canyon.
* After a safety briefing, we set off for a descent lasting between 2 and 3 hours.
* The return from the canyon is on foot in 15 minutes.
* Total duration of the activity: 3 to 4 hours.
Small group of maximum 8 people per guide for maximum safety.
3. High-Quality PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION
As a guarantee of safety, the group is supervised by a guide with a DEJEPS Canyoning qualification or equivalent. The guide is fully familiar with the Groin Canyon.
4. EQUIPMENT and HYGIENE
The instructor provides all the equipment necessary for the activity. The equipment is checked on each outing and complies with current PPE standards. Neoprene wetsuits are provided. They are of very high quality (two pieces, 5 mm thick) and offer optimal protection against the cold. They are washed with a biodegradable antibacterial product based on essential oils after each outing. Neoprene booties are provided to fit inside the shoes.
5. INSURANCE
You must have liability insurance and accident insurance.

Les Guides du Bugey is a team of independent climbing instructors and canyoning guides based in Bugey, in the southern Jura Mountains. Bugey is a mountainous region located in the Ain department, near Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon, Chambéry, and Geneva.
Les Guides du Bugey will safely introduce you to the world of cliffs, canyons, and mountains in the most beautiful natural sites of Ain, Jura, and Savoie.
