The Tréfond and Pernaz canyons, between Bénonces and Serrières de Briord in the Bas-Bugey region, offer a beautiful route for discovering canyoning between the Ain and Isère rivers. This outdoor activity takes about half a day and is ideal for groups of friends and families who are reasonably fit.
1. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
The route is suitable for introducing canyoning to adults and children aged 12 and up (younger children can choose the FAMILY package in Chaley).
Despite a very short approach and return hike, this route requires scrambling on foot through the rocks and offers numerous obstacles:
* a rappel down a 15-meter waterfall
* several jumps into pools up to 8 meters deep (optional)
* numerous natural slides
* some lovely swimming sections
2. ROUTE AND LOCATION OF THE ACTIVITY
The starting point for the Tréfond and Pernaz canyon is located in Serrières de Briord (Ain), 45 minutes drive from Lyon.
The canyon is closed in August by prefectural decree to protect the ecosystems.
3. High-Quality Professional Supervision
For your safety, the group is supervised by a professional with a DEJEPS Canyoning diploma or equivalent. The professional has extensive knowledge of the canyon.
Group Size: Depending on canyon conditions, groups are limited to a maximum of 8 to 10 people.
4. Equipment and Hygiene
The instructor provides all the necessary equipment for the activity. The equipment is checked before each outing and complies with current PPE standards. Neoprene wetsuits are provided. They are of very high quality (2 pieces, 5 mm thick) and offer optimal protection against the cold. They are washed with a biodegradable antibacterial product made with essential oils after each outing. Neoprene booties are provided to wear inside your shoes.

Les Guides du Bugey is a team of independent climbing instructors and canyoning guides based in Bugey, in the southern Jura Mountains. Bugey is a mountainous region located in the Ain department, near Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon, Chambéry, and Geneva.
Les Guides du Bugey will safely introduce you to the world of cliffs, canyons, and mountains in the most beautiful natural sites of Ain, Jura, and Savoie.

Half-day excursion: meet on site at 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM (choose when booking).
Total activity duration: 4 hours.
Reservations required at least 24 hours in advance.
