The detailed program

Rappel down the highest waterfall in the Jura Mountains: the Grande Cascade de Charabotte, between the Hauteville Plateau and the Albarine Gorges. The Charabotte is a 150-meter-high waterfall that you descend by rappel: a great atmosphere guaranteed!

1. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Rappelling down the Grande Cascade de Charabotte is a canyoning course for adults and children aged 15 and over. This course is intended for those who have already completed canyoning training with the Guides du Bugey.

With a relatively quick approach and return, this course requires you to be on a leash while walking on the rocks.

After reviewing your rappelling technique, we will launch ourselves into the void on the rappel ropes in the 150-meter-high Charabotte waterfall, which includes a 50-meter drop.

Find a description of the Charabotte canyoning descent on the blog: https://www.escalade-montagne.fr/canyoning/ain-bugey/cascade-charabotte/

Total duration of the activity: 4 to 5 hours

Are you a beginner at rappelling? You can discover the Charabotte waterfall by descending the first drop of the main waterfall via a 50-meter rope abseil. Level: beginner canyoning.

2. ACTIVITY LOCATION

The start is on the Hauteville plateau. We meet in Hauteville or Tenay. The descent begins in a 15-minute drive.

3. PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION

For safety reasons, the group is supervised by a professional guide with a DEJEPS Canyoning diploma or equivalent.

4. EQUIPMENT

The instructor provides all the technical equipment necessary for the activity except footwear. The equipment is checked on each outing and complies with current PPE standards. Neoprene wetsuits may be useful and are provided if necessary.

You will need good hiking shoes, preferably high-tops with a Vibram sole.

Environment, public transport and carpooling

One of our goals is to make the right decisions to protect natural sites and limit our impact on ecosystems and the environment.

100% local: thanks to our local presence in Bugey, close to our practice sites, we reduce our travel to a minimum. We use sustainable and environmentally friendly equipment, manufactured in France or Europe. We work with partners located in the areas we visit: restaurants, bars, and accommodations.nWe will suggest taking public transportation to the meeting points (when possible!) or carpooling for outdoor outings.

Protecting the planet: it's natural!

Photography and imagery are part of our DNA. Take advantage of our video and photo equipment to take your adventure memories home with you!

After each outing, we'll send you photos and videos of the outing, free of charge and with a smile!
